Chief Executive Officer
Mark has spent over 25 years in engineering and leadership roles within energy utility SSE, most recently spending nine years as the Managing Director of SSE’s Networks business. Mark is an experienced non-executive director, currently working in this capacity with Winders, a UK based transformer manufacturer in Leeds. He holds an honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Heriot Watt University and is a Chartered Engineer.
Chief Financial Officer
Stephen is responsible for the financial management and funding strategy for the company and its schemes. Prior to joining us, Stephen was Chief Executive at the Royal Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland where, during his five-year tenure, the charity enjoyed record revenues, surpluses, and capital investment. He holds an honours degree in Business Studies and Accounting from Edinburgh University and qualified as an accountant with CIMA.
Ian has made a career in renewable energy delivery including ocean, wind, and hydro energy. Ian built up and sold his family-owned business, J S Cartwright, to Scottish Hydro Contracting, then helped the new owners build it into a multi-million-pound division. Ian is responsible for the construction, delivery, operation, and maintenance of our portfolio of hydro schemes. He holds an honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Heriot Watt University and is a Chartered Engineer.
Alex was one of the first employees at GHR and has been instrumental in growing the business into one of the UK’s leading developers of run-of river hydropower schemes. Alex is responsible for technical, hydrological, environmental, social and commercial appraisal of our portfolio of hydro schemes. Prior to joining us, Alex served for seven years in the British Army. He holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newcastle University.
